This enlightening and safeguarding seminar on the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was ardently organized by the nationwide prestigious NGO, RambhauMhalgiPrabodhini, in association with Himalayan University of Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), mainly for the aim of suggesting necessary endeavors for tackling illegal migrations/infiltrationsin India.Held at the Speaker Hall, Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, on 10th September 2018, this magnificent event was chaired by Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, National Vice President, BJP. The most noteworthy speakers who graced the seminar, were the following --- Shri SarbanandaSonowal (Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam); Shri Ram Madhav (National General Secretary, BJP); Shri Abhijit Majumder (Editor-in-Chief, My Nation); and Shri Hemant Goyal (Chairman, Himalayan University).
Speaking at the seminar, Sonowal said that, today updating the NRC is imperative for curbing and preventing illegal immigration in Assam and other States of the country, as the foreign infiltrators present a variety of threats while staying in our country and try to encroach upon our rights. According to him, the NRC (formed in 1951) is certainly an elegant tool for distinguishing the bona fide citizens from foreigners. Presently, the NRC is being updated in Assam under the supervision of the Supreme Court for weeding out the illegal immigrants, especially from Bangladesh. Hon’ble Sonowalis of the opinion that such an exercise of updating NRC should be implemented all across India. While Shri Ram Madhav held the opinion that the foreigners should be deleted from the voters list as quickly as could be possible.
